    Hi.

I'm new to making movies, and just made my first one. I broke 2 60 minute videos into 18 chapters using WinDVD Creator (not sure what version, came with IBM T60 Thinkpad.)

It took the full length of the movie + an addional 45 minutes to burn the video DVD with custom pics for menus, and all that.

I was wondering if there was a faster way to do this? I mean 3 hours to burn a movie is rediculous. I believe I have a 4x burner, but I could be wrong.

Any suggestions on how to speed up this process using any other authoring software? I have Nero 6, but I can't seem to find anything that breaks up the video into chapters.

When you say "Burn" are you refering to the compiling of your authored project plus encoding said project yo either VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS and or ISO and finally the actual burning of the disc itself. If that is the case then no, your time is not excessive. ENcoding and compiling a 2 hour project does take that long. If you really meant burning and only that, then yes, it is very long. A typical burn of a full 4.38 gig file to dvd should only take about 15 min at 8x

You dont mention if this was using the laptop on battery vs power adapter ...

If only on battery ... it'll take longer because the cpu clock speed is retarded to conserve battery life time .

Windvd will take time to process and "encode" the clip's , prior to burning it to media .
Use windvd to edit , compose , compile to folder ... and imgburn to burn to media , and see if the burn time decrease's .

You also dont say what type of connection your using, interal or external dvd drive. If by any chance you are using a external drive, make sure you are using u.s.b 2.0 and not the older speed.
    Example:

    U.S.B 1.1.................3 hour burn
U.S.B 2.0.................well,thats about 15 minutes on my pc using the slowest speed to burn.

Hope this helps you ouy a little bit.
    Peace

So again I come to my answer I posted. Do you mean the complete process of creating a DVD from video files or just the burn?
