Hi, I have 3 avi files that I converted a while ago using Virtual Dub from mpeg to avi just to get a overlay picture on the entire video. But my hard disk crashed after I did the conversion but I restored these files. However, when I try to open them in any video player, the files opens and closes and nothing happens. What should I do. I have no ideas of fixing this file.

I would try a player like VLC which uses its own codecs to rule out any codec issues. Also, what does GSpot say about the files ? Can you open them in virtualdub ?
If in doubt, Google it. -
When I open this file in VirtualDub or NanDub, both of them freeze and start taking my cpu usage. However VLC opens and closes the file just like any other players on my computer. GSpot is saying the following in the attached image file. What should I do?

Firslty, AFAIK virtualdub cannot open MPEG-2 files (unless it's been added recently) - use virtualdub-mpeg2 or virtualdubmod. Secondly, Update your GSpot to V2.60 - it supports MPEG-2 and provides much more info.
If in doubt, Google it.
