Members here talk about buying Taiyo Yuden from RIMA, as its supposed to have GENUINE TY discs, and not imitations. But how would you be able to tell if a Taiyo Yuden disc was not genuine TY, or one of those "budget" TYs?

I buy my DVD+Rs from newegg.com BTW, and Copy&pasted from DVDinfopro says:

The Media code/Manufacturer ID is: YUDEN000vT0

Whats this sound like to you guys?

Stamper codes don't lie. Check the dye side of the discs around the hub area for a number like "TG001162."

Yes! I just checked, on the data-side of the disc around the hub, that EXACT code was there.

So does that mean mine are genuine or imitation TY?

  4. Newegg is a very reputable dealer, I don't think they would sell fake media.

I dunno, those last batches of Ritek a tried a while back sure did SUCK. But that was after Ritek's quality-control division had fixed problems with the discs, that had lead to them being DECENT in the past.

  6. Newegg.com is a great place to buy many things and very reliable, I have been buying there many years myself for hardware and never a problem with them.

Like any other store, they sell what the manufacturor sends them. So if you had a problem with Ritek disks it's not a problem with Newegg but a problem with Ritek! You still got what you bought!

Newegg is very good at replacing defective hardware on the rare time a system board was DOA or when a part failed durring the waunatee period. No questions asked, I got an RMA number and free replacements other thatn cost of shipping back the dead part.
You can't ask more than that, they just sell it, they don't make it!

Still for disks I am buying at Rima.com now. I been buying there and never a problem so why change?
If Newegg sells the same disks for same price or lower then I may order them there when I buy other stuff at the same time. So far I have not though.

I just got in my Rima.com Ty Yuden 8X Hub Printable disks, they burn at 8X on my NEC2500 and they burn at 12X on the 111D burner I bought my kid, I'm still testing the drive in my system
