  1. An encoder program I used annotated the "encoded by" Quicktime annotation field with "Lavf50.4.0".

    Does anybody know that is and what encoder uses it?
    G5 2ghz x2 1g ram, alchemy tv card, 200 g lacie firewire hd, formac studio dv/tv, eyetv 500; a PC and a series 2 TIVO

    A quick Google search turned up some references to Russian sites. What is the encoder app you're using?

    Lavf stands for 'libavformat', which is a library containing parsers and generators for all common audio/video formats in ffmpeg (file structure of AVI, MP4, etc.).

  4. It turns out I was using one of the divx codecs in ffmpegX. Thanks for the response. I never noticed that field item before.
