    Hello,

I am very new to this and have no idea where to begin troubleshooting this:

I am using WinAVI converter to convert videos that i have captured from the net to Ipod format.

what is going on is that when the conversion is complete and I play the mp4 file, there is a sync issue between the audio and the video. The Audio is always behin about 5 to 7 seconds. I have been playing with the settings: frame rate, bitrate, sample rate etc. but since i dont know enough, it has become a process of elimination deal and is taking forever to fix.

has anyone run into this issue before? i searched the forums and couldnt find anything. I hope your experties will rescue me here.

    Just another note...
i remember a while back, a friend of mine was also using winavi to convert same type of file (.rm captured from the same broadcast on the internet) to create dvds and when she converted, the same exact issue was there. the thing is the .rm is in perfect sync!!

Please let me know if I am missing some critical information that will help isolate the problem.

thanks in advance for your help with this.

Step 1 : Find a more reputable piece of software. The number of posts here related to problems caused by WinAVI out number, by far, complaints against any other piece of conversion software. Audio sync is high on the list of issues.

As I don't own (or care to) an iPod, I cannot recommend an alternative for you. But I can say, with 100% certainty, that there is absolutely no justification, ever, for installing WinAVI on your PC, no matter how cheaply you may have acquired it.
