Decode the sound seperately with a AC3 decoder (azid, besweet) or try it with a AC3 directshow filter
-
Thx for those tools downloaded them all
but the azid and besweet r tools i dont understand how do i run them and the AC3 Decoder is just a single file
did i do something wrong
Thx -
Copy the filter to c:\windows\system
Then open the commandline console, change to c:\windows\system and register the filter using
Regsvr32 ac3dec.ax
Then TMPG should accept the .ac3 audio.
If you want to use azid or besweet, you have to demultiplex the movie first (is it an avi?). There are also GUIs and guides available. -
i did the Regsvr32 ac3dec.ax thing
but TMPGEnc still wont give the audio
the audio source stays empty -
Did you try to open the .avi (is the source .avi?) in VirtualDub and save .wav?
-
I`m also having the same prob and have also used the command line to register the filter above.
Normally you can load a divx into vitual dub and save it back out as an uncompressed avi but some movies have now been encoded with AC3 audio into the divx.
When you save these as uncompressed avi the sound is thier if you have the AC3 filters on your pc and you can play the film but virtual dub will not uncompress the audio ,it gives an error "ACM failed to suggest audio decompression format".
I have also told it to just save the audio as a WAV file and it does this but when you play it back its like playing the soundtrack 10 times faster.
If you then try and put the uncompressed file into TMPGEnc it shows up as no audio in the avi and if you tell it to look in the avi its error is "unsurported audio format"
If anyone can help uncompress the AC3 audio track it would be a great help.

Got exactly the same problem.
The .WAV file doesn't play how (I think) it should and can't encode it to .MPG.
Any clues? -
At last i have finally got a prog that can uncompress the AC3 audio from a divx.
You guys need to get this prog avi2vcd_ver1_4 from here :-
http://www.mnsi.net/~jschlic1/mpeg.htm#avi2vcd
Once you have downloaded the free prog called AVI2VCD zip file ,unpack it and you will find a programme included called DECOMPRESS.EXE.
Ignore the prog AVI2VCD it is a waste of time and slow as hell.
Run the prog DECOMPRESS.EXE and it will ask you for the source file, this will be the DIVX_AC3.AVI movie file that you want to extract the audio from.
For this example it is called DIVX_AC3.AVI.
The programme will then fill in the next window for you ,it will in other words save a new file to the same directory as the one it was just told by you had the DIVX_AC3.AVI in.
It will rename the new file to DIVX_PCM.AVI ,to accept this you then press the DECOMPRESS button and it will then create the new file.
The video is still in divx format it is just the sound that has been converted.
You will still have to use virtualdub to convert the video to a uncompressed avi ,just switch of the NO AUDIO option in the AUDIO menu and you will just have a video avi with no sound which is all you need as you allready have a uncompressed sound file in the DIVX_PCM.AVI.
Now you can goto TMPGEnc and load the new DIVX_PCM.AVI into the AUDIO option at the bottom of the screen ,make sure nothing is in the VIDEO option ,if you try and load this avi into VIDEO option it wont except it as the video is still divx except it now has a wav sound file instead of a MP3 or AC3 file.
In the VIDEO option you load the movie avi you just made with virtualdub which should be a uncompressed video avi with no sound.
Choose which template you want to use from the LOAD button down the bottom right hand side ,and then press START and come back in an hour (well it is on my 1.7 p4)
If you just want the AC3 audio track out of the movie then load the DIVX_PCM.AVI into the AUDIO option making sure nothing is in the VIDEO option ,goto the file menu at the top and choose the OUTPUT TO FILE option and SAVE AS WAV.
I`m of to convert my Stargate divx with ac3 sound to vcd.
AT LAST
Hope this helps and it should also be used in the HOW TO CONVERT guide if you read this BALDRICK -
I have had some problems with Audio Synch using the AVI2VCD Decompress tool while trying to convert an DivX with AC3 sound to SVCD. I dunno what the problem is with that.
Here's a method that has worked well for me every time:
Using Nandub, open the AC3 DivX. Then:
Audio > Direct Stream Copy
File > Save WAV....
Rename the resulting file from xxx.wav to xxx.ac3
Then using Ciler's AC3 tool (http://www.digital-digest.com/dvd/downloads/ac3tool.html), you can convert the AC3 file to Wav or MP3. There's lots of options here, it's a nifty tool.
The resulting audio file can then be used as the audio source, with your original avi being used as the video source.
I hope this has been of some use...
