I bought the Sony GX330 DVD recorder but could not get any menu to display. I returned it.
I went to BB and saw the same unit. The staff member hooked it up and neither one of us could get a menu to appear on the screen. He knows what he is doing, I thought I did too, and it was obvious he was shocked he could not get a menu to appear.
It it is a manufacturing defect, what are the odds of two units at different retailers in two different states having one?
Any ideas?

Menu?
1) You mean the setup menu? Does the Info button show any text on the screen?
2) Or the menu showing the titles that have been recorded on the DVD? If #2, was the disk finalized?

Yes, setup menu. Cannot get it to appear no matter what button is used.

Went to another BB today and the helpful assoc. figured out the problem, and it was a connection issue. Problem solved!
