    i have a video file i recently came upon and it has xvid codecs and ac3 audio format tried to convert with tmpegenc and it puts out a wav audio file instead of ac3 which is what i want my question is how can i disable the audio conversion and extract the audio from the file and just convert the video. sry if this is confusing but its been a long day and im tired. thnx for the help in advance

    Change the audio settings in tmpgenc, sounds like you chose output of wav.

    Youcan use tmpgenc to demux the audio and video. This will give you two files. Then you can do as you please. The audio can be either wav or ac3 depending upon the settings in tmpgenc as KK said.

    I assume you have an avi with ac3, demux the ac3 with virtualdubmod, streams->stream list->select ac3 track and click demux.
    Encode the video as usually.
    Add the video and the new ac3 when you author to dvd using for example TDA. Or multiplex the ac3 to the new mpg video with tmpgenc, file->mpeg tools.

    ... have you found any better method than BeSliced to "fix" the extracted ac3 file if it isn't being accepted by TDAuthor?

    I've been having a few sync issues with "fixed" ac3 files lately.

    ac3fix is also pretty good at making ac3 files a little more compatible.
