I am trying to take downloaded WMV Files and put them on DVD to view in a Set-top DVD player so I can get them off my HD.
I have been using TMPGenc Plus 2.5 to batch convert the WMV files to Mpeg2 and then using Adobe Premiere elements 2.0 and OR Pinnacle Studio 9 Plus to compile each movie, encode to DVD compliancy, and burn to DVD.
This has been working great, however the times are very slow. TMPGenc converts about 30min of WMV in about 20min- which is slightly faster than real-time.
The problem has been with Pinnacle S9 and Adobe Premiere. YES, I know encoding is slow as it is. It is taking about 2.5 to 3.5 hours to compile and encode a 1.5 to 2.0 hour movie to DVD compliant files and Burn to Disc. My System is brand new and screams enough to handle media related tasks.
Is there a faster way to take the WMV and burn it straight to Disc maintaining DVD quality and chapters? I don't need menus...
The WMV source files are of DVD quality- 500mb for 25-30min of video.
I have read many of the posts here and NOOB discussions. I believe I am on the right track as far as the steps I'm taking.
Thanks for your help,
Big B

Convertxtodvd.
Or convert with tmpgenc but then use a better authoring tool that doesn't reconvert/recompile it again like tmpgenc dvd author, dvd-lab, gui for dvdauthor. -
I also use TMPGEnc Plus for encoding, and then DVDAuthorGUI for authoring. Simple and seems to work fairly quickly. For 40-50 min worth of video it takes about 6-10 minutes to author, from what I can recall.
