I've got my current HTPC in an Antec SOHO server case that takes up way too much space...
I want to put it all in a 'desktop' style HTPC case, but I'm not finding many that fit my needs!
I need one that will house a full size ATX mobo and a full size ATX power supply.
Additionally, I need 3 front accessable 5.25" bays -- this is the hard part. I've got a DVD rom, a burner, and my sound card has a front control panel that uses a 5.25" bay.
I suppose I could get rid of my old burner (but there's nothing wrong with it!!! other than the fact that it's only SL and 4X) and lose the DVD-rom, but I would still need at least 2 5.25" bays.....
I've been eye-balling this Thermaltake case: http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/ProductDetail.jsp?ProductCode=371278 & http://www.thermaltakeusa.com/product/Chassis/desktop/mozart/vc4000sns.asp
but, it doesn't meet my final qualificiation -- it's not black....![]()
gawd I hate silver electronics.
Can anybody help point me to some decent HTPC cases that aren't more than 17" wide, ATX sized, are black, and have at least 2 or 3 5.25 bays on them?
I've also checked NewEgg and TigerDirect, but I don't know of any other reliable/reputable online PC gear vendors. CompUSA sucks, BTW.
Alternatively, how much of a pain in the ass would it be to paint that Thermaltake black, and how horrid would it look when it was done??
TIA!

There are lots of options with two or one 5.25" external bays for desktop form factor. I don't think I've ever seen anything like that with more than two. Your only option for that would be to get a regular ATX mid-tower and tip it on its side.
As for desktops there are some really attractive ones aimed at the HTPC market.
Here are two from Antec:

And then there are these awesome ones from Lian Li in black aluminum:

My friend has that last one and it's a fantastic case but I wouldn't recommend it if your home is really dusty.FB-DIMM are the real cause of global warming -

There's a few websites you can look at for HTPC cases. Good luck and let us know which HTPC case you decide on.
