  1. i just made my first SVCD. i have done many Mpeg1 vcd's with good quality at 480x480 1650cbr. if i keep all of my settings the same except change it to Mpeg2, will the quality be any better. svcd supports interlace. by keeping the interlace will my vids have a sharper image to them????

  2. See my posting on mpeg-1 versus mpeg2 on the on the next page of subjects, there are some interessting replies. Overall, I don't see any difference, but my source is video tape, and I don't have an HDTV.

I don't know if this is in that previous thread, but i would say it may depend less on being MPEG-1 or 2, and more on what program you use. CCE vs. TMPGEnc, and the winner is CCE.

All things being equal, I would choose the MPEG-2 option for 480x480 material since this is making a COMPLIANT SVCD, which you can maybe play at a friend's house. The 480x480 MPEG-1 VCD would not be compliant.
