You don't have admin priviledges on your computer, maybe?

Most likely you'll be running some version of NT, don't worry at all what that means, just tell me if your version of windows says 98 or soemthing when you start up.

try going to my computer and right clicking it, in that menu select
    Manage computer.

A new window will open, in the left hand side of that window you'll see many options. Select System tools - Local users and Groups - users.

How man users do you see there? Do you see any users listed that do not have a description?

Next select the folder like icon below it that says groups.
In the right hand side double click the group Administrators
What users (members) are listed in there?
    Is your user name listed?
If you don't know you user name go to the start menu, hit run and type in that box
    %username%
hit ok, you'll get an error box stating that "windows can not find 'NAME' what ever the name in single quotes was will be your username.

Finally if none of this worked because you are running windowsxp home edition fine. Go to the start menu, and select settings - control panel (or control panel may be listed on the start menu). Find the user account applette From there find your account and check to see if its an administrator or limited account. If its limited you may be able to hit the button to change its privlages to administrator.

Try these, and answer those questions and we can go from there.

It might be easy to simply log-off then when faced with logging back on just read the writing beside the icons on the welcome screen. You should have your icon and user name there and if you are not the computer administrator then that icon should be there also and the words administrator under it.

If you can log-in to the administrators account without a password then you are good to go. If it requests a password then someone has locked you out.....

    Might work.

    Good luck.
