I would like to know how to modify my DVD so I can play it on a PS2 player. The DVD is from England and I want to play it on my PS2 or DVD player.

Removing a region code is simple. All ripping software, from DVD Shrink through to AnyDVD does this by default.

However, once you have done this, there is a very high probability that the disc will not play for you. Region 2 is PAL, your PS2 is NTSC, and most likely so is your TV.

So after ripping the disc to remove the region code, you will probably have to do this : https://forum.videohelp.com/viewtopic.php?t=300144

If the DVD disk is from England, the region is not your major problem. England uses PAL encoding. The US uses NTSC. Converting a whole DVD from PAL to NTSC is a fairly big project. If you don't need the menus, it's a little easier. You basically need to take the DVD down to it's component parts and change the framerate, the framesize and other issues, then rebuild it to NTSC format.

The easier way is to use a DVD player that can play PAL DVDs without any conversion. But, here's a few methods for the framerate conversions: https://www.videohelp.com/convert#4;41

One method is to use VOB2MPG on your computer and convert the DVD to a large MPEG file. Then you may be able to use a simple program like ConvertXToDVD to do the conversion to a NTSC DVD.

You would think this would be simple, but it's not.

    And welcome to our forums.

Can you buy a DVD player that plays region 2 and region 1 DVDs? If this is possible, then I may just buy a DVD player. I was hoping that there was somekind of simple hack though. I read somewhere that our DVDs, us Americans, do not have region restrictions, is that true?

    False. US is region 1.
But then again, the NTSC/PAL problem would still apply, no matter if you have a region free PS2 or DVD player.
