  1. I have some problems playing AVI files son my computer. The picture is being "Cutted" in a way, so that 5 to 10 % of the image on the left side and the top is missing when the file is played. Dosen't mater if i play it "windowed" or in full screen it's the same. The quality of the video that is shown is very bad. I tried to play the file from another computer on my network today. This computer played the file perfectly. Full image and good quality. The file is not stored on the computer with the problem, they both play it via LAN. Is there anyone who has an idea of what's wrong. I have played AVI's many times before and never had any problems, but now it the same no mater what avi file I try to play. Seems like it got this way almost "over night". Sorry about my bad English.

Are you using Media Player Classic? Maybe you got the display size settings messed up by zooming in or resizing the player window.

Does the file display properly in VirtualDub?

    Good luck.

  4. VirtualDub plays perfectly. Good qyality and shows all. I'm using Mediaplayer 11, but have tried all from DivX player to VLC with same result. VirtualDub is the first to play it corectly.

Tried to correct some typing errors, but ended up double posting. Sorry

I would probable try this little simple test. Load your file in VirtualDub. click Video - and check Direct Stream Copy. Then click File - Save AVI. Give the file a new name and make the save.

Reason? If the file has some problem then this little 'direct stream copy' save out of virtualdub just might correct it. Since this process works so quickly and is only a file-copy it's worth a try. lol

What codec we talking about? Divx... Reinstall it.
