  1. I have some huge mp3 files that need to be split, without re-encoding.
Normally I use the latest, free, mp3DirectCut. This is a great tool and does what I need. Only it does not work with mp3 files larger than 2GB.
Any suggestions how to split the mp3 files that are over 2GB ?

  2. I am gonna try it now. Thanks!
Although it does not say anything about 2+GB files on the website. Will post the result here.

  3. The free version does not do the job. The 2GB+ file gives: "Failed to map view of file".
A 52 minutes VBR file gives: "File too big (791%).... please consider registering"

    Any other suggestions?

Try doing it with SPAM, an audio / Mp3 editing software.

Just cut or copy the files approximately with a file chopper, like HJsplit, or a Hex editor, to pieces that include the parts you want and are smaller than 2 GB. Give your pieces .mp3 suffixes if they don't already have them.

You can open these fragments with mp3DirectCut (I just tried this) and trim them exactly and save, which should make them nice neat and correct.
