I've been doing tons of experimenting trying to create good quality DVDs from MPGs and AVIs I've downloaded. I've been using TMPG to enode the videos in various outputs but when I burn them to DVD, the resultant quality is poor.

Anyone have suggestions for increasing the quality and then burning to DVD?

    Thanks!

The problem isn't that you are losing quality during the conversion. The problem is that you are taking low quality source material (most likely 700-800mb downloads) and expecting to get "dvd quality" files after converting to dvd. This is not possible. You can not get back the quality that was lost to create the low quality downloadable files.

Just get a divx certified dvd player, take the files and burn them to dvd as data (usually about 6 700mb files per disc), and play. No reason to waste time and money doing conversion on low quality material.
