Hi. I recently purchased a Philips DivX Ultra DVD Player DVP5140/37. It works great except for one thing. When I try to play some anime I burned to DVD's, sometimes the subtitles get cut off at the bottom of the screen. I'm not sure if it's the DVD player, the video file, or my TV (Philips Stereo TV 24PT6341/37). It seems like the DVD player just enlarges the picture a little. When I zoom out to 1/2 size, I can see the subtitles fine, but they're hard to read. Is it possible to view the entire picture/subtitles without zooming out to 1/2? Thanks for any help.

I have the same problem with seeing subtitles on my philps dvp 5140/37. There to small and don't have a black background color or borders on video.Originally Posted by steener
There a custom firmware for the philps dvp 5140/12 Europe version with subtitles in white with video having black borders so subtitles are on top solid background at all times. Though I don't know if it will work ok with a 5140/37

The Philips TV has a feature where the vertical height can be stretched a little to make letterbox movies look better. To fix your problem, while watching TV (not in any program mode), press the down button on the remote to change "Expand 4:3" to "4:3". Then wait until the "4:3" goes out.Originally Posted by steener
