Everytime I make a DVD with DVDLab Pro, the subtitle always gets cut off.
First, I encoded an AVI file to M2V with TMPGenc with the 4:3 ration.
Then, I made my AC3 audio with ffmpeggui
I imported the SRT subtitles in the subtitle box, twicked the fonts a little bit.
Everything went well until I checked the VIDEO_TS on VLC players
When I saw the subtitles.. some of the subtitles looked like this.
-----------------------------
..................................
..................................
ong lines were cut off li
..................................
-----------------------------
^long lines were cut off like that
So I tried checking it with my DVD player and see if it looks the same.. and it did.
So I played around with the left and right MARGIN changing 64/64 to 95/95 and to 30/30
But there wasn't any changes.
So I thought maybe the file should be 16:9
So I re-encoded the AVI files again.
-----------------------------
..................................
..................................
..................................
|..........................Subtitles moved all the way over here
..................................
-----------------------------
I could only see half of it (not even, maybe 1/4 of it)
So I tried the marging thing again.. and there was very little changes.
Then I tried making 2 subtitles for it (4:3 format and 16:9 format)
There was pretty much no difference in both subtitles when I played it in VLC. It still looked the same.
I'm thinking I could fix the 4:3 problem by making the font smaller, but I would like to know how to fix the subtitles in 16:9
(I tried it with DVDAuthorGUI and it does that too)
So.. I don't really know whats wrong![]()
Hoping someone might know how to fix the problem.

you mean the preview box where you can change the background color?
IF that is what you're talking about.. then it looks fine on it.
The subtitles were centered.. and on the right place, but once authored and played.. it looks different. -
For the 4:3 ratio video big lines like:
"They have no real use and they waste the publics' tax money." (a line taken from the SRT that was cut off partially)
But with the 16:9 ratio.. I would only get to see a word or two from each line. -
When I type this line in manually I get to
"They have no real use and they waste the publics' t" in the field and can type no further. On the preview I lose the first letter "T" and half of the last letter. However, if I put a a carriage return after "public's" I can put the rest on a new line.Read my blog here.

I tried doing it manually and you're right. It does get cut off.
But when I import the subtitle it doesn't do anything.
Do you suggest that I edit the long lines and make it a two liner? or is there an easier way to do this rather than doing it manually? -
I don't know of an easier way. You could try using Subtitle Workshop, but it will still be a manual process, so you may not gain much.

Could it be the m2v is 352 wide but DVDLab for some reason assumes 720?

AlanHK - I've tried that.. but for some reason, when I use it.. it breaks the line longer than 35, but it doesn't break all of them. Some are still longer and can't fit.. which I still have to do manually (and there's too much of them)
---EDIT
Thanks AlanHK.. I've fixed the subtitling problem for 4:3 ratio DVD, but still having problems with 16:9I followed your step by step guide. I never used "Unbreak lines" before that's why it never worked. THANKS AGAIN!
