I finally was able to buy a Philps DVP 5140/37 and I love it so far! Seems to play all my cds and dvds fine.
Subtitles work great as well but I wish I could make them larger and the background color black. Like I want the subtitle text white but just larger and having the subtitles way below the movie in the black letterbox I would rather because sometimes the difference in the movie contrast depending on what scene it is it can make it difficult to still see the subtitles.
I heard about the modded firmware for the Philps DVP 5140/12 but its the Europe version and I have been told it will mess up the dvd player. Though it gives you larger subtitles and the black background color but not sure if the black background color is the subtitles being moved as far down as possible so there not on top of the movie or if the subtitles are still on top of the movie but just now instead have a solid black background color?
Is there any Philps DVP 5140/37 firmware that will work on my dvd plauer that will give me larger subtitles and beable to move the subtitles as far down as possible? The option of a black background color as well just in case I need it if the movie plays full screen then there is nothing I can do about the subtitles being on top the movie picture. At least I don't think I can do anytihng about it.
If not can I do any of this with the default firmware or somehow change the Europe firmware to be able to run on my dvd player please? Should I just return it and then buy a Europe version off Amazon ? Sorry for the long post.
I also notice subtitles don't stay on screen long enough to read![]()
