  1. OK Got some movies in "two" peices I want to join them

Found out how to use vdub to do this AWESOME works and its fast

but alas found some "troublesome" files. apparently the AUDIO must be identical on both files now I know ther audiop IS identical except for a technical glitch. one has a sampling rate of 48000 while the second half for some reason has a sampling rate of 48002 (they I have another on where the difference is only 00001 between the two files.

I figured ok convert the AC3 to MP3 no joy wont let me so I tried to convert to another format of AC3 no joy wont let me do that either.

is there a way I can SPOOF it ie modify the meta data of the one file to rid myself of this 000001 and 000002 difference between them IE change the one file so it THINKS they are the same (and they are likely a glitch that made it encode them as a tiny bit different) so I can join them ?

    Thanks!

Open the 2nd file only, go to Video > Direct Stream Copy, then go to Audio > Full Processing, then go to Audio > Conversion and change the audio sample rate to 48KHz. Then go to File > Save as AVI and save out to a new AVI. Now you should be able to load the first file, then append the 2nd.
    If in doubt, Google it.

Why not just convert the one audio to 48Khz with VirtualDub, then join them? You probably already have the AC3 ACM codec installed to be able to open the file. If you can't convert directly to AC3 at 48Khz, then save out as a WAV and use ffmpeggui to convert, then add it back in. I usually use VirtualDub Mod for all that, as I prefer the way it handles audio files compared to the regular VD.

But if you are planning to use this for a DVD file, don't join them. Just mux out the audios and convert only the videos to MPEG-2. Then you can add the MPGs and the audio files into your authoring program and let it do the joining. A lot less chance of sync problems that way.

EDIT: I should have checked; jimmalenko was ahead of me.
