Hi, This is my first post, I have been searching around in Forams for the past couple of months trying to sort out my problem.
    I have a Sony VAIO PCG-K315S Laptop, with a Pioneer DVD-RW DVR - K
For about a year I copied stuff on DVD-R no problems however over the last few months I have been able to copy onto a blank DVD-R disc but when I come to play it back on my laptop it will not recognise the disc.
There is no problem with DVD+R copy and read no probs.
I would really appreciate some help

    Three possibilities .

    1: media ... try different brand ... verbatim .
    2: Defective drive connection .

I've seen laptops with different problems of late ... you need to turn the unit off , and remove the drive , then simply reconnect it ... and try once again .

With dell's , it's turn off , click button , rip out , slap back in , fire up .
If they wont turn off ... remove battery pack till light gose out , and slam it back in ... fixed .

3: Drive defect ... it might be a bios update is all that's required ... a clean ... or the drive len's is the cause of problem ... picky reading issue .

    -------------------

Last one relates to dvd copy ... use the appropriate tool's when creating backup's or this can also happen .... burn ok , but wont play .

    Dvdfab + imgburn ... or
    Pgcedit + addons + dvdshrink + dvddecrypter + imgburn
