How do you stop 'Flash' popups (I think that is what they are). For example, many times when I go to imdb.com a box will grow on to the screen, usually over top of what I want to read. How can I stop these from appearing?

2nd question. One day my 2 year old was pressing random keys while I was on the web. Now if I click on a file to download I no longer have the option of launching the file or saving it....It immediately just asks me where I want to save it. Many of the files I get I want to just launch by clicking on them in my browser. Where is the setting to get this option back?

    thanks.

click "Tools > Options". Download settings are on the first tab.
As far as those pop-overs or whatever the hell their called, when you figure it out tell me too, 'cause I'm sick of 'em!!

  3. For your Flash pop ups problem install the No script extension.from here https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/722/ ...and enable it for that particular website.

Downloads prob..Go to Tools >Options >Main> Downloads and Select Always ask me where to save the files.

The no script file is doing its job, thank you...it's even telling me that its blocking things on this site...

As far as the download problem ...this is just how I have it set. It's not working right. It still goes right to the pop up to save the file instead of the option to save or launch...

For that, you'll have to go to the Options, Content, and at the bottom of the window for the Content tab there should be a 'File Types' section. Click on the 'Manage' button. You'll then have to find the file types you want to change and then press Change Action for each to choose what you want to do when each of those file types is encountered.

(Of course, you can just highlight all of them and manually Remove Action for each, but that's the easy way out. )

Actually, I'd personally prefer the AdBlock Plus extension with a good filter set in place, first, before NoScript (I have both in place), but that's just me. Your mileage may vary.
