  1. Hello everyone. I am intrigued about upgrading my Pioneer DVR-520H's HD from the 80GB drive that came with my unit to something huge, like 400+GBs. Unlike many on here who feel the 80gigs aren't enough for their recording needs, however, my reasoning goes beyond the recording process. I would like to upgrade my unit's HD so that I can store many of my DVDs on the hard drive. So I was wondering, does anyone know of any new firmware, or a hacked firmware, that would allow us to copy a complete DVD from the 520's DVD tray and store it onto the HD as an ISO file, so it can be played from the HD, exactly as it would from the original DVD? Thank you for any help.

This isn't what you were asking, but I think this does what you want: http://www.airlinktek.com/english/prod_mg35.htm

Thanks Frobozz, I've seen the mediagate and other similar hard drive based digital streaming devices before. While they do look interesting, right now I'd just like to see if it could also be done with a DVR-520. It doesn't seem like a big deal really. I'm sure that someone already familiar with the Pioneer's firmware may already be working on such a firmware upgrade, if not, they really should, because then upgrading to a larger hard drive could have extended benefits besides simply recording more hrs onto a larger drive.
