After ditching DVD Architect and learning DVD Lab Pro 2, I have finally arrived at the burning and testing process. What I have created plays perfectly on PC but totally craps out on standalone box. Media used is Sony (1st Class). Issues on standalone include blotches and severe stutter, eventual lockups....I also tried burning the compiles using Nero but had same results. So...according to my logic the issue would be something that occurs before the burning process (ie. during compilation, though I get no errors, just the glasses icon as warnings), OR the standalone doesnt like 1st class media. Have I missed something???

  2. Try it on another standalone player?

OK, works on another standalone....so what should I do? The unit on which it doesnt play is a cheap "no name brand" kind of unit. Should I just let it go and consider the fact that it plays in my Toshiba unit good enough to go ahead with the project?

I always burn with imgburn 2, and would not use the built-in burner in DLP. Even the author acknowledges that it was a stop-gap feature and not the best.

You also have to accept that not all players play all media well, so you need to test as widely as possible. Try alternate media (Verbatim, TY, TDK), make sure you test o your HDD before burning, and test the media after burning. I use DVD Info Pro, but Nero CD/DVD Speed will do the job too. Run a read test across the entire disc before playing it.

I would ask if other burns you've made with the same media work on this "no name brand" player, i.e. movie backups?

My old Sampo player would only play Princo burns, it choked on good stuff.

You might also run your problem burn through DVDShrink to see if it accepts it as a test, as Shrink is rather particular about structure.
