Hi all
I'm pretty new to the whole converting to DVd and burning stuff and have zero knowledge on this area so please be very patient with me and give answers/tips in "for dummies" terms.
OK I have started using Avi2DVD which I really like - takes ages but is ideal for newcomers like myself.
I alwyas leave all the settings as the software preselects.
I have approx a 50/50 success rate with the failures resulting in a window on screen which looks a little like a dos window (I will paste below the results from one that has just failed). The result tends to be that it will burn to disc **BUT** only partially.
I can tell , not only from the dos like window but also because the burning process takes much shorter than the successes and you can see only a small part of the disc has a different colour where it has been burned.
Now one of my failures I also tried putting through video DVD maker free.
In one prog it played the full 1st scene (of a three scene movie) and part way into scene 2, whereas with the other software only played for about 2/3 mins before it stopped.
This makes me wonder if it was an issue with the source file ?
Anyway please see below the screen capture from where the dos like window stopped running (when this happens one has to shut it down - whereupon another dos like window does it's bit).
Would be grateful if anyone couls help me out with what's happening here and how to solve.
thanks

Hi and thanks for the reply.
I have deleted all the ones that wouldn't convert. Next time I get one that doesn't work I'll download that prog and post results here. Is the prog very straight forward to use ?
Thanks again

Well up to now no more problems - typical eh (not that I'm complaining)
If it should happen again I'll revisit this thread and post as you request.
Thanks again for replying.
