Hi, Looking for some help to solve a surplus of duff DVD coasters.
Over recent weeks very little has burnt correctly DVD wise. CD's fine. An old ISO file created months back DID burn successfully last week.
I've tried using IMGBurn and a log is below. I've progressed to a stage where it seems to Bunr OK, stoped getting errors there. It now fails verifying via ImgBurn at "Illegal Mode for this Track"
Firmware seems up to date. DMA is correct on Device manage for Primary and secondary channels. I seem to have low quality media which I will correct soon but seems odd that it was OK using same media and that some older ISO files have worked OK.
Any suggestions?

I was getting similar errors before I replaced my 4163B with a H22L. You might try cleaning the drive with compressed air in case something is interfering with the laser diode. Otherwise, the diode is probably failing. Replacement drives are cheap though. The H22L cost me $50CAD and has everything I had on the old drive (only faster) plus Lightscribe writing capability.
