    Hi !

I have a question about Liteon LVW-5045 dvd recorder with 160 GB hdd.
Is there a way to transfer the hdd to a pc? I wish there would be a connector on it for this purpose. Why I want such a thing, when the writer is out of order in time and when the guarentee is over, can I open the case of dvd recorder and connect the hdd to a pc with a cable? Is there a dvd recorder on market which provides hdd transfering to pc?

    Thank you

    Osman

I suggest you do a search here:

Many DVD recorders have a firewire or USB2 port, but don't allow directly connecting to your PC. They put the ports there for a convenient way to transfer files from your camcorder.

Other units do allow it, with the DVD recorder appearing like a hard disk in the PC's Explorer.

It all depends on the model.

Those that can pass mpeg2 from DVD recorders hdd to pc via 1394 or USB2. Pref Pioneer.

The above method would be quicker at transfering video, compared to burning a DVD on the recorder from it's hdd, then placing that in the pc, and extracing the video that way, yes/no?

Youu can take the HDD to a PC
However you can replace the DVD drive in the 5045 with a PC 1693 or earler one.
I have a 5045 and two ilo RHD94 units, [basicly the same as a 5045], with replaced DVD drives
Do I assume that the unit is hacked and is why you want to keep it going

THE HDD is physically compatible with a PC. It could be connected to an IDE port.

Cannot offer an opinion on whether once connected you will be able to access the data.

  6. someimes better to try these things out under linux as most recorder jard drives are either weird format or most def not NTFS not even FAT32. INVERTO is worth a look as is KISS for USb xfr to PC
Corned beef is now made to a higher standard than at any time in history.
The electronic components of the power part adopted a lot of Rubycons.

The HDD in the 5045 Is Fat 32 and Is IDE.
The 5045 Does Not Have Otutputs that will connect it to a PC
I use WIn 98 se But Fat 32 can work with XP etc. The info and mods are at these sites.

The ilo 04 models and the LiteOn 5045 and some others are basicly the same

A 5045 Can Not be replaced [for its use]
It is more than worth repair on the DVD or HDD drives
Both can be replaced. A replacement for the DVD drive is getting hard to find but still can be at present.

    Edit
If it were me I would not go the HDD route to save info. The DVD drive can be Replaced but get one now. The HDD replacement is No problem
