What is a good program for xvid + subtitle to dvd?

Hi, I need a recommendation on which program is good for encoding xvid avi to dvd and adding selectable subtitle to the dvd(I have idx/sub files). i tried convertxtodvd but the audio was out of sync, dvdsanta = program closes while encoding. Which program should I use? Thanks in advance.

It explains how to prep avi files for conversion when you have audio sync issues. ConvertXtoDVD is the most reliable one-click-wonder that I have seen, but even it isn't perfect. The best method I have used is all manual. FitCD->avisynth->encode->author, including separately encoding audio and authoring with subtitles. It takes three - four times as long, but it works almost every time, and the quality is generally substantially better.

However, because so many avi files are encoded by people with little to no real skill, often using crap like WinAVI and no real understanding of what they are doing, the quality is often very average, and you will get files that you cannot convert nicely.

Start by putting the fact that it is AC3 in your original post so you get appropriate replies. You could also describe what sort of sync problem you have. They generally fall into 4 types

1. Constant delay - audio either starts early or late, but stays out of sync by the same amount all the way through. This is the simplest to fix. This might help -> https://forum.videohelp.com/viewtopic.php?t=316884

2. Starts in sync, but gradually drifts out over time. This usually results from poor conversion between PAL and NTSC. Harder to fix.

3. Drifts in and out of sync over time. Not worth fixing. Delete the file and get a better source.

4. Player dependent - works in some players, not in others. Maybe a codec issue.
