I'm trying to convert .DAT files to a MOV files so I can edit them. I can't open them in quicktime but VLC and DivX player open them without problems.
What programs can I use to convert these files to a usable format?

If they are .DAT files from a VCD, just change the extension to .mpg and your programs may recognize them. They should be a MPEG-1 video file.

For some reason my computer only changes the name of the file, not the extension, when I try this.
