I just spent a fair amount on a Canon A540 digital camera which I'm rather enjoying. However, since i don't have any other type of portable video device, and the Canon seems perfectly capable of playing its own on the nice 2.5" LCD screen, what are the chances of finding the right encoding stats to convert existing video into a format viewable from the camera?

    Thanks,
    A.C.

    Hi leftysrevenge,

    Welcome to the forums.

Download a video file from your Canon to your PC. Then use GSpot on the file to find out what audio and video codecs are used to create the footage.

You'll then need to find software to convert existing video into what you want using the codecs identified by GSpot - a reasonable bet would be VirtualDub.
