    what free program do i use to convert xvid to mpeg? thx.

    i dont know which one to use. i tried encoding with tmpgenc but it wouldnt allow it. any ideas?

    What are you trying to do ?
    Are you encoding for authoring to DVD ?
    What did tmpgenc say ? It doesn't just say "no, not letting you do this today"

    Probably gotta raise the priority of the DirectShow Multimedia File Reader. Either that or try a freebie like divxtodvd or its payware cousin, convertxtodvd for a no mess, no fuss conversion.
