After a program freeze on my computer, I no longer get the audio on the welcome screen,
and my volume control on my keyboard does not work.
I can play audio via hard drive, CD player etc. I can control the volume through the mouse with media player. Everything else works fine.
I've tried another keyboard with the same results so it's a computer problem
I also cannot get the volume icon onto the task bar. I tick the box on the volume setup but it doesn't show on the task bar.
Running XP with SP2

Go to "Sounds and audio device properties". Select device volume, place volume icon in the taskbar. If that fails, time to reinstall the drivers.

But I have found that any program with an embedded audio sound does not play the sound.Could this be a Windows problem? If so how can I fix it?
