,im using windows xp pro,sp2,and have the last few days developed a problem with winavi 7.1.i have used winavi for months with no problems at all, then 3 days ago i started having problems.when i convert a vob file to any format,mpeg1,mpeg2,avi,any of them, the video is fine but there is no sound whatsoever.no error message is given, there is simply no sound.i've tried windows media player, media player classic, even vlcplayer(which has never failed to play any file i've thrown at it in the past)and none of them will play any sound at all.i have made no changes to my computer at all,and winavi worked beauitifully until this problem arose.i tried un-installing then re-installing winavi, but it makes no difference.any file format other than vob converts normally with the sound fine.it always converted vob files file until this sudden problem.i have the latest version of k-lite codec pack installed(which i also tried un-installing then re-installing)although i generally use vlcplayer as my default media player.again,i have made no software changes other than the two i've mentioned.i don't know what else to try,i've tried everything i can think of,any ideas or solutions would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance.

Try demuxing the streams with Vobrator, then remux using your favorite editor/authoring app.

Or try simply renaming the VOB file with an .mpg extension, then try opening in Windows Media Player, or better yet, use your editor to open it.

Several problems. WinAVI has a history of inconsistent performance, that's why few here use or recommend it. And the K-Lite codec pack also has a history of damaging existing codecs and causing many more problems than it cures.

What format is your audio? Drop it into Gspot 2.60 and check, both with the VOB and the converted file. It may be AC3 and you don't have the decoder installed. If that's not it, maybe time to try a different converter and see it that solves the problem. A VOB is a lot more than just a MPEG file. It also can have several audio tracks, subtitles, menus and other DVD formating. You have to make sure you extract the proper audio tracks.

RonnieRocks, just an observation, but you would get many more replies if you used some spacing, punctuation, and separated your post into paragraphs. It is very difficult to read.

    And welcome to our forums.
