I burned the file on my TV recorder. It plays on it. But when I look for the file on my computer Windows Explorer shows nothing. The properties box shows the disk as full but no file or file names. How do I get my computer to find this file?

What brand/model of recorder are you using? Have you finalized the disc?

As Krispy Kritter said, it's possible that your recorder hasn't finalized the disc yet and it's still in some intermediate raw format that Windows doesn't recognize as a file. Try finalizing it.

Once successfully finalized, ALL video DVDs have a folder called video_ts, and in that folder are your .vob (actual MPEG video file), .bup (backup .ifo files) and .ifo (video layout, chapter info, etc.) files the player requires, and these will be visible in Windows Explorer

Yes my mistake was that I did not finalize the disk. I am using a Samsung DVD-R135 recorder. It copies the show into multiple VOB files - is there any way for me to get it to copy it into just one VOB file? If not then I guess I have to join them, the covert to MP4 for Ipod. Thank you

If you want to keep it compatible with standalone players you'll want to keep each VOB at 1GB or less.

If it's only for your ipod and you'll be watching it progressive as a single MPEG file, it won't matter at all
