Making a Sharp DV NC750 region free

Hey all, I'm living in Japan now, and I picked up a Sharp DV-NC750, which is a DVD Player/VHS player combo. I brought all my dvds from the US with me and I was hoping to watch them here, then I got hit with this whole region code thing.

I couldn't find any hacks on the videohelp site or on other Japanese sites to make the player region free. . . so I'm hoping that someone might read who knows a way to make to do it.

Lesson learned?
Check for machines with available hacks BEFORE you make your purchase....
I would check to see if your machine is a rebadged unit(IE Magnavox etc etc) and try the hacks for those....that might be your only hope.
