  1. Believe me, I spent a lot of time searching before posting. I own Nero 6 and downloaded the latest update for Nero 6. I actually converted a DVD to mp4 but after all that it told me it wouldn't play on the ipod. Any guides or ideas? I see the other tools available, just wondering if I should give Nero 6 Recode a whirl. Thanks!

    Hi,
Nero Recode 2 will make great iPod movies, You need to check the Quicktime compatibility box in the encoder settings, and make sure to use a bitrate less than 2500kbps and a resolution of 640x480 or less.

Does your iPod support 640x480? If so, check this thread:

  4. Thanks for the quick reply, guys. It is the latest iPod 80 so I'm thinking it does support 640x480. I'm still not sure how much I'll be converting, it's for my daughter. Here's the info for the conversion for Recode 2 that wouldn't import into her iPod. It would however play in Quicktime. Thanks again, guys!

    Hi,
Your problem is that Nero's version of H.264 (Nero AVC) isn't compatible with the 640x480 size supported by iPod's with the 1.2 firmware. Because your file is wider than 320 pixels it won't play on the iPod, this is Nero's "fault" not the iPod's. To use Nero and create 640x480 movies that are compliant you need to use "Nero Digital Standard" profile not "Nero AVC" with the settings I mentioned in the previous post.

  9. I wanted to thank you guys, everything turned out great! Am I correct in assuming that chapter stops don't transfer/work when encoding to mp4. I encoded a DVD with separate chapters but they didn't transfer. I tried it in 'Showtime' player and they didn't show up there either. Any ideas? Thanks!

Glad to help. If you get the Chapter Stops to work, please let me know - but I don't think it's possible.
