I have a movie - i have the vob files - i dont have the crap that went with the files becuase its then to big for the dvd-r.
All i want to do - and i dont think im asking too much here - is to burn those vob files to a dvd-r and be able to play them on a standalone dvd player.
My problem?! I cannot seem to get the Video Info files pointing in the right direction.
I have used INFOEDIT 0.4 and 0.8 and both seem to go off and do things but none actually work.
Does anyone know of another program that will create or modify info files so they are correct??
What i dont really want to do is to spend 10-20hours converting the files in Mpg formats for an authoring program - call me crazy but if the damn things are already in a format a dvd can read it seems alot of hastle to convert them in to a format it can read and then convert it back again.
A note to the dvd authoring programers - heres a little thought - MAKE THE PROGRAMS BE ABLE TO IMPORT VOB FILES!!!
DVD WISE YOU WERE ON THE RIGHT TRACK BUT YOUR PROGRAM DOESNT RECOGNISE ALOT OF VOB'S!!
HOWEVER - if someone can recommend a program that will convert my vob files real quick then im all ears.
Im getting real fed up with this and spent hours trying to sort this out.
Is there a DVD angel out there.....

I ment to add that there is one way to get a working dvd from vob files but it ends up with a problem - maybe someone out there can tell me how to fix it.
I rip the dvd using Smartripper - then delete the vob files i dont need. Next i open up INFOEDIT 8 and go in to the VOB Extras section. I then select the last three options which are Correct VOB-unit, Correct INFO tables and most importantly Create new VIDEO_TS & VTS_01_0.IFO files.
This goes away for about ten mins and corrects and creates the files as promised - HOWEVER it does something to the sound becuase when i go back and play a vob file its stuttery and crackly - almost like its not playing at the right speed or something.
I guess it must be something to do with the IFO files being recreated but i cant seem to see anything in there that would cause this problem.
Any suggestions anyone??

I would suggest that you use the guide posted on this site to the under What Is (VCD or SVCD) after you select that go to the bottom of the page and select the guide you want, follow it EXACTLY as written the first time, including Rip part with SmartRipper, don't try to get to fancy to early in the game, you should not have any problems, I know the first time I did my Rip I followed the guides here and got great results the first time out for the basic VCD format including burning.

I burnt hundreds of vcds and svcds but now that i have a dvd-r drive i want to burn dvd's.
Ive looked though the guides and all of them i have found either talk about converting in to another format or using infoedit (this guide as far as i can tell doesnt work).
I can understand that if the movie itself is too big for a dvd then obviously you will need to convert the vobs and then author but my movie isnt.
There must be a way of using the dvd compatible vob's i have a making a working IFO file.
