I've never had any problems with my Maxell, no matter the code or where they were made.

I wouldn't trust them for long-term data storage(That I leave for Verbatim) but for something that I only watch once and don't care about after that I've never had a problem with Maxell. This is all my opinion and from my own experiences though

  3. I'll be glad when everything goes to solid-state media, ie. SD cards, etc. No moving parts, and no dye problems. The industry should be ashamed of themselves giving consumers crap media. People want media that lasts, especially for family photos, etc.

The problem is no regulation and nothing on the media stating the quality and manufacturer of the discs. When you buy tires for your automobile, you can buy Grade A, B, and various mileage 30,000 40,000. It clearly states it, and it should be this way for media too. At work we have some crap media that is giving us problems, yet the department continues to buy it. Some days I have to burn 5-6 CD's to get one good CD.

Why doesn't Phillips and Sony step in and regulate the quality of CD's? They are the ones that came up with the Compact Disc standard in the first place.
