Define the camcorder by model number.

Fastest path to a DVD is with a standalone DVD recorder. You would only use the computer if you wanted to go slower and add features to the dub. Expect it to 3 to 6 times longer.

What's the output format? If it's DV though a 1394A cable (FireWire) you would need a FireWire card in the computer. Then you could use WinDV to transfer the DV to the computer hard drive. From there, there are a lot of programs you can use to convert it to the DVD format. I use ConvertXToDVD if I want a quick conversion.

Most of the time, I need to edit first, then I use VirtualDub Mod for that, with the addition of a DV codec like the Panasonic DV codec. If I want quality and control, I encode with a separate encoder and authoring program and burn with ImgBurn.

It might be helpful to know more about the Camcorder, like the model number, but assuming it has firewire, (or in Sony terms, iLink), the fastest method would be to connect the camcorder to a standalone DVD recorder that has a firewire port and record. No programs required. What's on the tape will be put on a DVD using the hardware encoder of the recorder.
If the DVD recorder has a hard drive then some basic editing can be done and maybe some basic menus, before putting on DVD.

Alternatively, you can capsfer to a computer with firewire using WinDV, edit in your editor of choice (I use VirtualDub and AviSynth), then encode to DVD spec Mpg2 using an encoder (I use QuEnc or HCenc). Then import into an Authoring program and build Menus and chapter points and create the DVD file structure. (I use TDA). Finally, burn the DVD using imgburn2 (the best burner program on the planet). The results can be quite good, but it's not exactly fast. (The encoding process can take hours.)

If I got the numbers right, it appears to have a DV out connection and also passthrough so you can input composite video, such as from a VCR and output as DV. You will probably need a 4 pin mini to 6 pin 1394A cable if one didn't come with the camera and you will also need a FireWire 1394A card for your computer. If you don't have one, they are around $20US for a PCI version. Then WinDV or Scenalyzer will work for the transfers. USB output is usually just a low quality video for the web.

I'm not sure what Ulead is talking about with a capture driver. 1394 drivers are built into XP, I believe since SP1. Maybe they are referring to a USB driver for the camera.

As mentioned, a DVR with FireWire input would be the fastest way to get from camera to DVD.

Under xp , the so called default device drivers are not guaranteed for all model's made .

The camera would , if bought new , came with a disc with a supplied software product , that when installed ... also install's the camer's correct driver ...

If you dont have this disc , then :
