I would like to extract closed captions from a captured TV program and convert them to a subtitle on a DVD.
I recorded a program using Windows Media Center 2005 (*.dvr-ms file) and converted it to an mpg file while editing out commercials (using a very handy program, Video ReDo Plus). The resulting file can be easily transferred to DVD. I would like to be able to extract the captions from either the dvr-ms file or the mpg file, and add them to the DVD as a subtitle. Video ReDo advises that the cc data is retained in its conversion process, and that the cc is embedded in the mpg file.
I have an NLE (PureMotion's EditStudio 5) that can work with subtitles, and I also use DVD-lab Pro (ver 1.53).
I found a similar post/inquiry where the people were using a special ATI video card that helped with this process, but I don't have that particular resource, and figure that there must be a utility or two that will help me get this job done. THANKS in advance.
