  1. So I just got a panasonic gs500 and am testing out use of Motion DV Studio that came with it.

My goal is to shoot many 15-20 second clips (as many as can fit on a tape) in 16:9 aspect ratio. Then capture and clips/scenes as seperate files and convert them down to half size (432x240) in .wmv format for viewing on the internet. I would like to do that with one program which it appears Motion DV Studio can do.

What is happening is when I do a file outpt, I can select only a few format options (of which none seem to be what I need). AVI format keeps the aspect ratio at 16:9 but files are too big. ASF format (windows media compatible) kills my aspect raciong and makes it 4:3 while squishing (letterboxing right?) the video

So I have wmv files like I want but lost the aspect ratio.

Can anyone offer some help here?
Optionally if there is another program that can do this, I'd like to hear about it.

    Thanks in advance

Export your clips as Dv-AVI and convert them with MS Media encoder. You can run it in batch mode but you need a script if I remember correctly, search MS's site for the directios.

  3. Thank, this looks like it is doing what I want. Now I just need to find the right wmv profile but am closer than I was before.
