'ey. This is Yugi. I have this problem with my subtitles; my subtitles are in .ass format. I was wonderin if it is possible to put the subtitles into a DVD without hardsubbin them, or changin 'em to a less functional format, like .srt. Hardsubbin works, but it is much cooler when you can turn the subtitles on and off, and .srt makes the subtitles lose their positioning and font among other things.

Convert them from .ass to .ssa with some subtitle editor that allow it (Medusa, Aegisub, Sabbu), then load the .ssa into MaestroSBT and use it to generate a .son file and the associated bitmaps (if you're using DVD Lab Pro or DVD Maestro), or a .sst file + bitmaps (for Sonic Scenarist or MuxMan). The setting you have to select on MaestroSBT will depend, among other things, on the framerate and the authoring program you'll be using.

Well, I tried MaestroSBT, but there's some stuff wrong with MaestroSBT that I don't know how to fix. Even though MaestroSBT fixes some things .srt doesn't fix, like the problem of when 2 subtitles have the same timestamp, MaestroSBT doesn't keep the positioning, fonts, or font colors. Also, I use DVD Maestro, but if there is some other software that can support the ".ass" aspect of the subtitles, I could try to look into it. Thank you fer replying. ;D;D;D;D
