DVD recorder not writing to dvd-r disc.

I have a Sony duel deck dvd/vhs player recorder.When I try to record from vhs to dvd using a sony dvd-r or maxell dvd-r disc it starts recording normal but when I stop the recording it will not write to the dvd-r no title list appears and time left on disc is unchanged.The machine records fine to dvd-rw+rw no problem.Also my computer has failed to reconize the dvd-r saying no disc is in disc writer.What is the problem and is there a fix to it ,thanks in advance for any information.

Make sure the video doesn't have Marcovision on it. Also check you media that you are recoding on. Most problem happen when you used inferior Media.

sounds like the dvd-r wasn't finalized. there must be a way to finalize the disc in the sony, it won't be usable until it is.
