Is it possible to make menus that will not start the background music from the beginning when I switch to another menu (for instance from the main menu to the chapter list)? I am very new to authoring DVD's and can make basic ones but am wanting to get into the more advanced aspects of it. I currently have Nero Vision and DVD-Lab Pro (yay for birthday presents heh). Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

It is possible to create an affect using multiples of the same menu's ... but this would be an extremely complicated task to edit due to the limits of the number of navigational commands and menu set's allowed .

Getting the timings right would be one hell of a job just to start with .

Short answer is No. The DVD Spec simply doesn't allow it. Bjs suggestion of repeating the same menus with different length movie wont work because you cannot tell at what point a menu was switched, and so what menu to jump to next.

The best advice is to not use loud music, and to use music that fades in at the start and out at the end, even if it loops. This way the changes are less obtrusive.

That was the whole point of what I said ... it would never be perfect .... but could be reasonably affective provide certain style of editing was to take place .

With that having been said ... dvd spec's do allow for this within the range of menu's ... it's just that one has to take into account of the limitations set within dvd spec's .

    Yes , its guns1inger ... again I noticed .

"different length movie" ... where did one get this idea from .

Title tampering is even more limited ... and not worth bothering with in the first place .

Keep an eye out in the guide's section ... a point will be made ...

I didn't think it was possible but I appreciate the advice and help. I have a piece of music that isn't too overbearing and is very soft and fades in slowly. I havn't read up much about the new formats yet (HD and Blu-Ray) but it will be interesting to see what people can do with those in the future. Happy Holidays everyone!
