Does the macbook or ibook disk drives take mini disks, like those out of a video camera. My concern is that it would not kick it back out.

  2. I don't really know but doubt it. as you might know the trays on drives have an indentation for it,

if no one anwers with true knowledge try MacNN forums. do you know about that?

Ive gotten a lot of good info there, but that total crew is not quite as friendly as the crew here

    good luck

at worst you could get an external drive, build your own from a OEM pionneer ( ~35 $$) and fire wire box (~25 $)

avoid a USB solo box much slower due to overhead

No, you can only place full-sized discs in the slot-loading drives. You'd need to get an external drawer-type drive for those discs.

Hello, If you have a slot loading disc player DO NOT even try it. If you have a tray loading cd/dvd then
yes. Sometimes they work and sometimes they get stuck. The tray loading type can be opened w/ a
paperclip if this happens. The slot loading device----take it in for service. Here is a link to Apples discussion board in case you want more that my opinion.

I wonder why Apple stopped using slot loading drives that accepted the smaller discs? I remember my first iMac had a slot loading drive, and it readily accepted the mini CDs.

  6. They stopped because the drive opening/closing required a larger space in the laptop. I'm surpised someone hasn't come up with a carrier disk, into which the mini disc could be placed. I remember years ago there was something similar for CDs, but haven't seen them for awhile. I don't think the mini CDs are the same size as the Mini DVDs, but I've compared them.
