I have a .VOB file which is a radio program. I want to end up with only an mp3 of the program. Using the drop down menu from the Summary Tab I have selected at the bottom, "Audio file to mp3." However this results in a zero kb file tagged avi.mp3. Anyone know why?

If I select mp3 in the audio codec and passthrough in the video, though I unchecked video codec, I get an mp3 that plays back too fast. If Video encode is checked I get something unrecognizable by the finder or quicktime.

Any suggestions for quick easy split of audio off VOB and conversion to MP3, or suggestions based on the above info?

    Thanks and Happy Merry

  2. If the VOB is indeed a movie, then the preset to use would be rather "movie audio to mp3". MPEG Streamclip is also quite good in processing VOBs.

You may want to use "demux" on the tools tab. You will get one file for audio and one for video. Then encode the audio to mp3.

I find glynnkjk's method to be faster than using the movie audio to mp3 preset. I don't know why, exactly, but the difference seems to be about 2x, even taking the demux time into account.
