Hi
My motherboard (Intel D101GGC) has been programmed to start with an Intel wallpaper while booting, and then the second booting screen comes (listing of drives etc). Pressing [F1] or [Del] does not cause any deviation of this. Pressing [F2] or [Esc] also doesn't help.
That infernal wallpaper was enabled in the BIOS during the first boot of the machine...and now I can't get around it and reach the BIOS.
How do I visit the BIOS?
Thanks and regards.

Something that has sometimes worked for me when I have been in a similar situation is to hold a key down and keep holding it down when powering up the computer to get a keyboard error. Sometimes the BIOS is offered along with the error.

Go to the motherboard manufacturers site. They sometimes have a program to change the 'wallpaper' to something different. If not, there is usually a setting in the BIOS to disable it or change it to a different version. That 'wallpaper' is part of the BIOS. It just loads first before the BIOS screen. It's not until your drives are listed in the black screen that you can access BIOS.
I just keep punching the 'Delete' or whatever key the MB uses, once every second until the BIOS screen shows from the time the computer is turned on. If you hold it down continually, it will usually delay the BIOS loading most of the time.
If, on the other hand, you have no BIOS access, you might want to unplug the computer and pull the BIOS battery for a few minutes, replace it and try booting again. But you will lose all your BIOS settings back to default and your clock will be wrong. -
Its the F2 key to enter bios .
It's the TAB key to get rid of the intel wallpaper .
As for forcing the bios screen setup ...
Most motherboards have a two pin socket for clearing these settings nearby without the need to remove the battery ... simply remove power cable from system , then short these two pins across each other , and it's cleared .
This dose mean the system will reset bios to default settings
Holding down keys on keyboard is not a good method ... should this trigger bios screen setup due to keyboard error detection , in most case's , you cannot use the keyboard while in the bios setup ... as not all keyboards function in the same manner outside the control of the os ... the good old days had mouse support in bios ... now that was very handy . -

Thanks, gadgetguy, redwudz, Bjs, jimmalenko.
This is to Bjs and jimmalenko:
Exactly when do I press <F2>, and for how long?
Exactlt at which point do I press <TAB> and for how long?
I am too weak at heart to short pins on the motherboard.
Regards. -
As soon as the Intel wallpaper comes up, press Tab. It should flick you to the traditional BIOS display of white writing on a black screen. Then it should say "Press F2 to enter setup" or something similar. The presses should literally be just as if you were typing and you hit those keys. However, I have found that it does no harm to just constantly be tapping both keys from the second your PC powers on until you see the BIOS appear.
If in doubt, Google it. -
I'm not familiar with this motherboard so I'll offer general advice.
Go to the intel website, http://mysearch.intel.com/support/default.aspx?q=Intel+D101GGC+manual&id=&lang=eng&hid...D101GGC+manual
And download the manual, in the past some of the intel motherboards have required you to change a jumper to change bios settings. This board I do not know. Look in the manual it should say.
Good luck
BTW it isn't the wallpaper keeping you out of the bios. -

I'll implement all suggestions obtained so far, and report back.

THE REPORT IS HERE
1. I press the POWER button. Intel wallpaper comes on. I tap <TAB>. I wait for the wallpaper to go away and arrival of the first boot screen which will say "Press F2 to enter BIOS". It doesn't come; the second boot screen arrives, and, following that, Windows.
2. I press the POWER button. Intel wallpaper comes on. I tap <TAB>. I keep on tapping it for the wallpaper to disappear and arrival of the first boot screen which will say "Press F2 to enter BIOS". It doesn't come; the second boot screen arrives, and, following that, Windows.
3. I press the POWER button. Intel wallpaper comes on. I tap <TAB> once. Then I tap <F2> and keep on tapping it for the wallpaper to disappear and arrival of the first boot screen which will say "Press F2 to enter BIOS". It doesn't come; straightaway the BIOS appears. Ha Ha Ha.
So, the long and short of it is: as soon as the INTEL wallpaper comes on, tap <TAB> once. Then immediately tap <F2> and keep on tapping it; straightaway the BIOS will appear.
Thanks to all of you good guys, and regards.
