  1. Recently an odd thing is happening that I cant figure out yet.
I can burn DVDs with Liteon burner to DVD-R that work fine on both of my computers as well as everyone elses computer. However the disks will skip on many video players.

I have tried both Memorex and Ridata disks that have been fine in the past. Today i was at at some friends house and one of them can play them fine on her TV with new player. They skip on the other older player. But this is what we cant figure out. She can copy my disks on her computer, that also has a Liteon burner, and burn them and they work fine on the player that my original disk skips on. This must indicate my disk isnt defective. I have also checked my disks at all stages for errors and have none that show.

She did use a TDK disk though. Other than that, we both use Nero 6 with the same settings, and use the same OS. Only thing that we havent tried so far is to burn one on my other computer which also has a Liteon burner, and have her burn something to one of my disks.

Any ideas on this? I do have the latest firmware on my burners, I also ran the laser disk cleaner disk on my drive.

as you found out the media makes a big difference. not all are created equal. you might try verbatim, seems to work on most players capable of playing dvdr.

How dose one go about answering one's own question that leads to the suspect ... by posting such things like "She did use a TDK disk though" ... I thinks the light should have come on ... dont you .

Take one of her disc's , and try it in your unit ... if it carries on as same as before ... your unit is in question ... isnt it ... an idea .

Bugger , better get some more light bulb's ... you'll need them .

    -------------

Also ... tdk isnt as good as it once was (outsourced production stage with their brand slapped on it) ... consider verbatim ...

  4. I imagine it is the disk although I have never had problems with ritek GO5 manufacturer codes before. Both the Ridata and Memorex are GO5 and the TDK are TTH02.

But gee, Bjs, you didnt need to get so snippy about it. I was pretty stumped as GO5 always worked previously,on at least three players that they wont work on now.

I too had burned 80 plus G05 with no problems, but I encountered 8 bad G05s before using up the 100 spindle. Check some posts on CDFreaks as well as this forum, and you'll find many problems with inferior media, especially G05 media.

  6. Yes, I have read about the G05 problem. My problem turned out to be the burner. Thanks all.
