Is there a divx dvd player that supports xvid GMC?

I recently bought a DVP 5960 and expected that excepting for AR issues, I'd be able to virew all my xvid encodes, as well. Instead, I find that a set of encodes using xvid's gmc is unsupported. Is there any way to correct this problem (short of re-encoding) or any player that does support GMC?

The DVP 642 supports Divx's single warp point GMC. IT does not support Xvid's three warp point GMC.

I have an lvd2001 liteon that used to play divx and xvids until the qpel, gmc crap started appearing. Then I had to convert everything to dvd which totally defeats the purpose and worsens the quality. I'm confused why all these new dvd divx players don't support qpel and gmc? It makes no sense to make a product with the selling point being able to play divx and xvid, and it doesn't even support the latest technology. Friggin stupid.

it takes a long ass time and it makes the new file uglier. might as well just convert it to dvd. it's quicker.

If all I wanted was to convert it to dvd, I wouldn't have gotten the divx player. No cracked firmware or anything can make the player support gmc/q-pel?

Just to see what would happen, I downloaded and installed avi recomp. How is it any different from re-encoding the avi, though? Even if it is different, what option would I use to undo gmc/q-pel?

My Koss KS5121 plays GMC and QPEL.

This is a good choice to play Divx/Xvid content. It plays no-name and name brands of DVD/CDR/RW discs and supports various flavours of Xvid/Divx, including dual AC3/MP3 audio tracks, XVid packed bitstreams with 2 consecutive b frames, GMC, QPEL, various subtitle formats and even mp4 video with non-standard frame rates.

It's not any different. It reencodes the video.

I've never used the program but I believe it has a simple option for maximum set top compatabilty.
