  1. Hello all,
I have a question for everyone. I'm still pretty new to the whole conversion scene. I have a .wmv file that I have on my computer and it has a subtitle imbedded in the file but there are no additional files in the folder containing the video file. If I use WinAVI to conver the file from .wmv to DVD format will that keep the subtitle? And if not, if anyone knows of a good program that I can do this with any suggestions would be great.
    Thanks

Yes, because the subtitle is part of the video, not a separate entity. The subtitle will always be there, and not something you can switch off. There is no simple way to extract the subtitle to make it switchable.

I don't suppose I can convince you that WinAVI is a piece of monkey crap and use something better ?

If the subtitles are rendered into the video, sure, it will carry over to your DVD version. If it's a separate multiplexed subtitle stream (does WMV handle that?) like xsubs in the WMV I doubt it will.
...and using WinAVI is rarely (if ever) the solution to anything at all.
But then - it's not more complicated than giving it a try, is it?
